Preposition and its examples

  I am going  to  Dubai. The gift is  inside  the bag. Ali threw a stone  into  the river. In the above sentences, the underline word creates a relation so these words are prepositions. Example sentences of preposition: The girls go  to  school. She jumped  over  the wall. The glass is  by  the window. He slept  under  the open sky. Ali was late  because  of missing the train. Ali was  at  home Ali was sitting  under  the tree. He came  by  the school in a big hurry. Be careful  with  the glasses. Where are you  from ? In the above sentences, all the underlined words show a relationship of a noun with the other words of a sentence. So all these underlines words are prepositions. Types of prepositions: There are some basic types of prepositions. Preposition of time. Preposition of place or direction. Preposition of agents or things. Phrasal preposition. Preposition of time: The preposition of time is that type of preposition which shows the relationship of time with a noun or a pronoun

How to Use Preposition in English Grammar

  On, At, In, Of, For Prepositions are the words  Prepositions are the words that join a noun, pronoun or the noun phrases and make each sentence complete.   Examples: To the office, on the table, about myself, in a few minutes, at my place, etc. Here, ‘to’, ‘on’, ‘about’, ‘in’ and ‘at’ are the prepositions. On : On (refers a surface of something)- I kept the dishes on the dining table. On (specifies days and dates)- I will come on Monday. Radha was born on 15th August. On (refers TV or other devices)- She is on the phone. My favorite movie will be on TV now. On (refers the parts of the body) — I keep wearing my wedding ring on my finger. On (to refer a state)- The products available in the store are on sale. At  : At (to indicate a place)- There are a good number of people at the park. At (to refer an email address)- Please mail in detail @ (at) sonu86rakesh @gmail.com At (to refer a time) — Meet me at 5 p.m. tomorrow. At (indicate one’s activity)-John laughed at my acting in the play
